Welcome to Year 6
Hello everyone,
We hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas break and that you are all ready for an exciting Spring term. Below you will find some information ready for this term and in the files you will find our Spring newsletter and topic web. This outlines more details about our curriculum this term and some important dates specific to Year 6.
Staffing
We are very lucky to be continuing with the same experienced team of adults again this term. Miss Poland will be your child’s class teacher with her PPA (planning and assessment time) on a Monday afternoon. During this time, Miss Connah will be talking the class for their RE lesson as well as having a sporting company coming in to teach indoor athletics with the support of Mrs Clark. We are very lucky to have Mrs. Clark supporting us all day on Monday, on Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning. Mrs. Davies will support in class Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning and Friday afternoon.
Things to bring
All day-to-day equipment will be provided by school such as pens, pencils, rulers, rubbers and sharpeners. Therefore, your child will not require a pencil case on their table at all times. However, during art activities, using our creative humanities books or publishing our amazing writing, your child may be allowed to use their own felt tips, colouring pencils or gel pens. They be instructed by the class teacher or support staff if they are allowed to collect them from their bags to use them on their work.
You will need to bring in a waterbottle each day which can be refilled at suitable times as well as a healthy snack. Snack will be available to be purchased from school each day if prefered.
PE
Our PE days have now changed. This term, PE will be on a Monday and Friday. Your child will be required to have their PE in school throughout the week. We are asking you to send your child's indoor PE kit to school in a named bag- these will be kept in the cloakroom and sent home every half term to be washed.
A reminder of our PE kit. We wear navy shorts, a blue school t-shirt and trainers. In the winter, we wear a navy-blue tracksuit. Earrings and watches should be removed for PE. Please remember to include a healthy snack to keep your child going in the morning – fruit or other healthy, nut-free options only please. Snack will be available each day for your child to order during the morning routine.
Homework, Diaries and Spellings
Homework will be set on Fridays and will be expected to be returned on the following Friday unless otherwise discussed. Children will come home with their Reading and Homework Diaries which will contain their homework and spelling patterns that they will be learning in school. There will be a space for parents to write a comment if they choose to do so. Please ensure that your child brings in their homework diaries into school every day (the best place to keep them is in their bag!).
See you all soon!
