Year 4 Friday 1st March

Date: 1st Mar 2024 @ 4:36pm

This week we have been learning about plastic pollution. During whole class reading and science, we read about the problems created in our oceans by discarded plastics. Did you know that plastic can take 1000 years to decompose? We also discovered that tutles can mistake plastic bags for jelly fish.

In literacy, we read a book called 'One Plastic Bag' by Isatou Ceesay. We read about about how a community in Africa, resues waste plastic bags and crochets them into purses. We also researched other organisations that turn waste plastic into new things.

In maths, we have been using partitioning, part whole models and the bus stop method to divide 3 digit numbers. It was quite tricky beacause it involved exchanging and remainders! This afternoon we were grateful that the sun came out as started to learn how to do orienteering. We had to look for OS map symbols hidden around the school grounds. Let's hope the rain takes a break for the weekend too.
