Year 3 - 1.3.24
Date: 1st Mar 2024 @ 5:31pm
Another week has flown us by and it has gone so quickly. Our whole school focus this week has been on pollution plastic and we've looked at the book One Plastic Bag by Miranda Paul. As a class we have written some wonderful acrostic poems from the word 'pollution' and we've written a letter the Gambian president telling him how the world is being destroyed due to plastic pollution.
In maths, we have moved onto our new topic of fractions this week. Specifically looking at unit fractions, the role of the denominator and ordering these fractions. This is a tricky topic in Year 3 and the children have coped very well with it. Next week we will look at comparing non-unit fractions. Keep up the good work Year 3!
In PE we started our new topics of working with partners for symmetry in gymnastics. On Tuesday we looked at forward, pencil, teddy bear and egg rolls. It was fantastic to see the children applying their prior learning from KS1. Today we've taken part in our first orienteering lesson, sadly it was raining, so we completed the activity in the hall. The children were great at using a map to find the three letters and report the code back to Mrs Johnson.
Keep working hard Year 3!
