Year 2 Weekly Blog- Friday 24th March
Date: 24th Mar 2023 @ 1:58pm
We have had an exciting week celebrating Easter. We enjoyed our Easter Egg hunt around the KS1 playground which was organised by our wonderful PTA. They tested our maths knowledge and we all won a wonderful chocolate prize! We have all been working hard at home to decorate our Easter hats for our parade. It was lovely to have our families there to see us all looking amazing.
In art, we have been studying printing, learning all about William Caxton and William Morris to inspire our art work. We have created our own polystyrene tile from our beautiful designs and used printing ink to create a repeating pattern with the colour gradually getting lighter by adding white.
In maths, we have been looking at the link between multiplication and division by 2, 5 and 10. We have enjoyed creating our own fortune teller/quacker to test each other and playing different maths games to build up our knowledge of multiplication. We have had lots of fun playing a loop card game to support our quick recall of multiplication facts.
This week we have all been working very hard on our comprehension skills and understanding how to answer different types of comprehension questions.
In computing, we have learnt how to use an iPad to create our own pictograms using online software. We gathered data about the class’s favourite colours and fruits.
In literacy, we have been writing in the past and the present tense. We have thought about the daily activities the old man has been doing to ensure we can write in the past tense.
In science, we have been sorting different animals into their correct groups. For example, we identified that cats, humans and dogs are all mammals and that crocodiles, turtles and snakes are all reptiles.
A very busy but exciting week!
