Year 2 Autumn Week 4
Date: 27th Sep 2023 @ 7:49pm
Hello everyone!
We have had another wonderful and busy week in Year 2. This week we have been:
- Partitioning tens and ones in different ways. We have used our maths resources lots this week, so we can physically move our tens and ones to different parts of our part-whole models.
- We have been reading the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We have written statements about Jack and recapped our Y1 objectives of using capital letters and full stops. We have also thought about questions we would like to ask Jack and created a mindmap of these.
- We have learned about different forms of IT that we use in and around school.
- We've had our first real session using the Rekenreks to support our maths.
- We played a fun hopping and skipping spelling game and wrote out our spellings in a pyramid to help us remember the tricky Common Exception Words.
- With Mrs Taylor, we have made different shapes using lollipop sticks and dribbled with a football in P.E.
The Year 2 spellings this week are:

We test in class every Friday. We won't be sending tests or spelling books home this year. We keep a record of our test results in school and we can share this with you if needed. We always support the children with spellings they struggle with daily.
Next week is a very busy week. Mrs Cox will be teaching Year 2 on Monday & Friday. Miss Wooldridge will be teaching on Tuesday & Wednesday. Mrs Taylor will be teaching on Thursday. Mrs Cox has a wonderful couple of days planned for the children, food tasting and soup making!
