Year 1 8th March 2024
Date: 8th Mar 2024 @ 4:53pm
This week has been full of super math! The children decorated their very own number line to 20 and have enjoyed using them to add and subtract. We have also completed some word problems of addition and subtraction in the real world. Next week, we look forward to using a new method (using our number bonds) to make addition and subtraction faster!
We have also continued our maths work about measure using the vocabulary short, tall and long. Shorter, taller and longer. Short, shorter and shortest. Next week, we are going to start looking at measuring in cm using a ruler!
In D.T, we designed and made our very own moving pictures based on our recent books, 'Planet Full of Plastic' and 'Somebody Swallowed Stanley'. The children have brought these home to share with you. They are extremely proud of their work.
Thursday was world book day and we enjoyed sharing our favourite books, listening to Mr Gough read a story and designing book marks. It was lovely to hear the children talking about which adult’s story they had listened to on Thursday night at home.
Today has been such a treat day with chatting about our mums, watching Receptions assembly, being read a story about respect from Mrs Weston and planting our own sunflower seeds.
Our spellings this week are linked to the sounds we have been recapping in our phonics sessions.
The Year 1 team would like to wish all our mums a fabulous weekend-Happy Mother’s Day.
