Year 1 5.1.24
Date: 5th Jan 2024 @ 1:25pm
What a lovely start to the New Year. The children have returned full of fabulous ideas. We spent the first three days focusing on a book called My name is not Refugee. The children shared many thoughts, produced some detailed work and showed good team work in our practical tasks. On Friday, the children were introduced to food from around the world and had the choice to taste a South African dish - Pineapple Sandwiches. They were very popular... I imagine you may have some requests at home! We then thought about how we would best welcome a refugee to our village, creating welome bags and building 3D maps.
Next week on Thursday and Friday, we will be investigating the properties of 2D shapes. This will include hunting for shapes in our environment and making shape sculptures using natural materials in our wildlife area. Please bring an old waterproof pair of shoes or wellies to school on Friday 12th January for our outdoor work.
