A wonderful week
Date: 26th Jan 2024 @ 4:43pm
We seem to have quickly arrived at another blog.
This week has been full of exciting work. The children’s behaviour in football on Thursday was outstanding. I was really proud of them.
Maths
This week has been all about number lines! We have been spotting missing numbers, finding numbers speedily, adding and subtracting. We found that not all number lines start at 0 so it's super important to check the starting number before answering questions.
3D shape has continued to be tricky. If you have anytime to help your child practise the names of cones, cylinders, cubes, cuboids and spheres (hard to say) we would be very grateful.
Computing
We had a very exciting computing lesson where we used our school robots, Beebots! We gave them commands to try and navigate them down a racetrack. Next week, we will be 'debugging'.
History
For our history unit, we looked at how much we had changed since we were a baby! We combined this task with our literacy objective of using '-er' and '-est' to compare. We wrote sentences in the past tense using 'had' or 'was'. My favourite sentence was, 'I had the stinkiest feet.'
RE
We have finished our work for ordering the Creation story and have started a design which will be developed into a creation collage. Please have a look on our X account at some of the designs.
Homework
Thank you for completing the timeline activity at home!
-Shape hunt - please see sheet in homework books.
Spellings
We have changed our spellings to correspond to the children's reading abilities. Please see last week's blog for more information. Please find the spellings for your child on their reading slips in their reading diary. This has been explained to your child in class today.
Can I finally thank you for the return of RWI books this week and for those who returned books found at home from weeks gone by.
Have a lovely weekend.
