Pre-Loved Clothing Sale
Friday 27th (from 3.10PM) and Saturday 28th April (11 – 3)
This takes place this week. Thank you for any and all donations for this, we would love any more donations to the school this Friday morning. We’re looking for clean, good quality children’s clothing aged up to 12 years, for sale to a new home. It would be really helpful if donations were in a bag labelled with the size of the clothes eg 7-8 years. We would love volunteers to help 1 – Friday daytime to collect and sort clothes and help set up (hall available from about 1.30PM). 2 – Friday during the sale to help sell clothes. And 3 – Saturday – to help sell clothes, and clear away afterwards.
The proceeds are going towards the Pre School PTA and the School PTA as a joint venture, and is being co-ordinated by Kate Linford (Chair of MT Pre School PTA and mother of Thomas Linford in Reception). Please contact Kate, Jo or myself if you can help, donate or have any questions.
Any unsold items or any not suitable for sale will be given to Bags2School for their collection on 15th May. If you have anything less desirable that you want rid of, they pay us by weight so anything fabric apart from uniforms, duvets, pillows and cushions, we’d love those on the morning of 15th May. Thanks!
Saturday 9th June
Our biggest fundraiser of the year! We will be needing loads of help with this, from helping to plan the event, set up and tidy away, and to man stalls on the day. I know no-one wants to stand on a stall, and would rather enjoy the fair with their kids, but if we each gave half an hour, it leaves an hour and a half guilt-free enjoyment and means others can go around with their kids too. Please, please sign up to help with this.
There will be more information soon, but please save the date and help us make it a success. Thanks!
Royal Wedding Celebration
Friday 18th May from 1.30 PM
This is the day before the wedding itself, so I hope we don’t jinx anything! The children will be invited to have a celebration buffet lunch made by Mrs Christian at the usual time, but outside (weather permitting)! Then there will be entertainment put on by the children for the afternoon in place of their usual lessons. Parents and Grandparents are invited to join the children from 1.30 PM, tickets in advance (to help plan catering) and will include a scone with jam and cream, and a hot drink. We’ll send out a letter shortly outlining the children’s menu and with a reply slip for tickets. We hope to see as many of you there as possible!
Sponsored Sleep Over
Year 2 and 3 children will be invited to spend the night in the school, supervised by some very brave and generous members of staff. It will be a sponsored event, with a minimum sponsorship amount of £15. There will be a prize for the child who raises the most sponsorship money!
It is a big undertaking from the staff members, giving up a Friday night (and most likely their sleep) in their own free time, and that is why we have set a minimum sponsorship amount, to make it worth their while. It is cheap overnight babysitting, especially if you can spread the cost amongst family and neighbours with sponsorship. It will also help us to get the children ready for their first residential trip to Conway.
There will be letters coming out to the Year 2 and 3 children shortly with more information.
Friday 20th July
This is an exciting and slightly daunting addition to the calendar this year! The last day of term, we are planning a colour run for children and parents, to finish the term with a splash of colour and on a high note!
It will take place within the school grounds, and participants will be given a plain white T-shirt to wear for the event, and will walk, run or skip around the course, overcoming obstacles and being splashed with (safe, non-toxic) coloured powder. All those who take part and complete the course will receive a medal to help remember the event! Parents are welcome to enter too, and I’m sure the younger children will be glad of a friendly helping hand around the course, and which child wouldn’t love seeing their parents covered in colourful powder!
Pop up Circus!
This will be in September, a new event and hopefully one that Parents and Children will all benefit from! The circus performers will be coming for the day and setting up on our school field for 1 day only. They will be carrying out some workshops and assemblies for the children during the day, and this ties in with the curriculum for some of the children. Then after school, there will be 2 ticketed performances. The performances will hopefully pay for the cost of the circus coming to see us and allow the workshops and assemblies to take place free of charge. However, we need to make sure we can cover the costs for this, as it is not cheap.
The tickets will be £5 each and will be on sale soon, to our school first and if we have any left, will be offered to other schools in the area.
It is a great, affordable way to introduce the children to the circus, in a safe environment and with performers who will interact with them during the day, and hopefully give them a day they won’t forget!
We need to make sure we can sell enough tickets before the cancellation deadline comes around in June, so tickets will be on sale early, and if not selling, we will need to look at whether to run the event or not. Please, please don’t put off buying tickets if you want to come.

Are you on Facebook? If you haven’t joined our page yet, please do. We use it like a notice board. At the School’s request, only a handful of people can initiate a post, but all are free to comment and feed back to us. Please don’t be offended by this, it is a stipulation of the School that if we are to have a social media presence that we control what goes on the page. If you want to join, search for Mickle Trafford PTA, request to join and I’ll add you to the group.
