Year 2 Weekly Blog- Friday 11th November

Date: 11th Nov 2022 @ 2:37pm

This week, we have learnt the mathematical word 'calculation' because we have been solving simple addition and subtractions. We have added 3 one-digit numbers together using our number bonds as well as using tens frames to help us bridge tens numbers.

In Literacy, we have looked at the first page of our book 'Jack and the Baked Beanstalk'. We have been introduced to Jack, Jack's mum and Bella the dog. We discovered that they had a fast fod van so we have written our own menus using commas for a list.

We have had a busy completing lots of art activites. First we looked at the technique of shading using hard, medium and soft pressure with our pencils to create different shades of the same colour. We have looked at the collage artist Henri Matisse and learnt about his life and the type of art he created. We recreated his famous 'The Snail' piece with coloured paper before writing fats about his life. We then took inspiration from his collage work and created our own collage poppies for Remembrance Day. Please take a look at our Twitter feed to see our finished pieces with our own Cenotaph.

In Science this week we were intoduced to the Protect Our Planet (POP22) programme. We went outside and collected different natural resources and took photos of the areas ready to make some exciting piece with them next week.
